The Worlds Biggest Gallery  - floating for one year only!

This year Craven Arms' annual celebration of creativity and art is set to make a big splash.

Sometimes referred to as "that town on the A49", this September Craven Arms is becoming "the town on the River Onny" - with watery art, art about water, art on water, art inspired by water, and art made from water, and an Artwalk route that follows the river.

This is a once a year chance for people from all over Shropshire to show the world what a creative place we live in. So get involved. If you're a performer, or musician, or have an idea that could take place en-route please respond to this email at worldsbiggestgallery@gmail.com or call Catherine on 01588 680 484.  You can also download application forms here:

http:/www.theworldsbiggestgallery.com/artwalk2010.aspx

There are many other ways you can join in:

Make a Scrapture for the £750 Sculpture competition

An open competition for "scraptures" made from recycled materials is being held on September 11th. There is a £750 cash prize for the winner. For how to enter see "£750 prize sculpture" attachment.

Show your paintings or artwork

Last year over 2000 art fans came to see the paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures displayed throughout the town. This year the theme for work is "Water" - so all things inspired by or relating to water are welcome, including (of course) water colours.

You can sell work and we will not charge a commission. Or you might just want to show people something you've made that is just sitting unloved in your loft. See "The World's Biggest Gallery" attachment for how to show a piece in the ArtWalk.

Take a stall at the Art Super Market

On the 11th September there will also be an art fair/market as part of the day's celebrations. Artists, galleries, makers, arts organisations and anyone interested in the arts is invited to take a stall. This is an opportunity to make something happen, sell some work and involve different audiences in what you do. See "Art Super Market" attachment on how to book your stall.

Description: Contemporary painting and drawing.
The work is my statement.Presently the work is abstract.
I have worked full time as a visual artist since 1999, and have spent those years exploring ways to communicate thoughts and concerns with my paintings and drawings
Its not all you see on the surface, it goes deeper than that. The work goes back many years, what I have seen, experienced, touched and collected.
My present surroundings, here in Wales, and that of Cornwall where I spend much of my time, inform the work, and inspire the subject matter.
Then with the painting and drawing I remember, and try to make sense of it all.

The Whitchurch Mosaic Place Arts Trail A local community art project for Shropshire
Touring Mosaic Exhibition for 2010

Between 2007 – 9 local community groups in Whitchurch created an arts trail
of 16 mosaics sited at different locations around their town. This creative arts
project highlighted different views and experiences of living, working and
travelling in Whitchurch. To celebrate this exciting project an exhibition about
the mosaics and the people who made them is currently touring to different
venues around Shropshire. The exhibition tour has received funding support
through a Shropshire Council Arts grant.
Following on from successful displays in 2009 at SpArC in Bishops Castle and
in the Shropshire Council Shirehall gallery in Shrewsbury the exhibition will
now travel to the following venues:

Mosaic Trail Exhibition dates and venues for 2010:

8/11/10-6/12/10: Festival Drayton Centre, Market Drayton

About The Project

The Mosaic Project began in 2007 at Whitchurch C.E. Infant and Nursery
School where a large mosaic was made and installed by children, parents,
staff and friends. The arts trail grew rapidly to involve other local schools and
many more community groups including Entry to Employment learners, Age
Concern residents and the Walking for Health group. A total of 16 mosaics
were created at places such as the Community Hospital, Stonham Housing
and the Hatton Way cycle path. The mosaics celebrate different aspects of
the town including history and people’s memories, walking and cycle journeys,
and most importantly the community who created them.
The project was funded by Arts Council England, Shropshire Council and
many local groups and businesses. A total of £17,000 was raised together
with a further estimated £7350 in kind support.

A map leaflet showing the locations of all the mosaics is available at exhibition
venues and the Whitchurch Heritage and Information Centre.
